I was raised in a small town in the Midwest, but left home at age 18 to be educated on the streets of Tucson and Phoenix, much like Gregory Corso in NY.I am a serious poet but have not yet been published. I have a substantial body of work which I am posting on this page on aweekly basis. I welcome the perusal by other poets or other interested parties. Many poems are political in intent, so if you feel you can use them in aprotest context, please feel free to do so, as long as I am credited as their source. Remember, all material in this journal should be considered copywritten as my intellectual property. I came to poetry by way of my love of poetic musicians such as Lou Reed, Van Morrison and Joy Harjo. My lierary ancestors include Walt Whitman, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs (To whose cut-up method I am deeply indebted),Amiri Baraka, Ishmael Reed,Robert Anton Wilson,Rimbaud, and Michael Mcclure. My favorite poetic form is the mock sestina, but I also enjoy experimenting with gazals and other Middle Eastern poetic forms.Philosophically I link myself with Nietzche, Foucault, Terrence Mckenna, Carlos Castaneda and the great Buddhist sage Padmasambhava. I enjoy good cinema; my favorite movies are Dead Man, The Big Liebowski,My Own Private Idaho, Six-String Samuri, Rocky Horror Picture Show,Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Velvet Goldmine and Man of La Mancha. As a student I was privileged to attend lectures by and met the late Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Timothy Leary. I am a lifelong student of Vajrayana Buddhism and Vedic Hinduism. Please enjoy the poems, and feel free to critique any technical aspect such as meter and rhythm, line length, etc. I WILL NOT debate word choice, which is by and large a matter of personal taste.
